It’s never too early to start a good oral hygiene habit, from the appearance of your child’s first tooth, regular visits to the dentist will prevent problems that may affect your child into adulthood. We encourage and believe familiarising children from a young age will also help with future dental phobias that may arise.
As maintaining good oral hygiene is not on the top of a child’s priority list, we focus on educating our young ones on the importance of in-home oral care, such as regular brushing and flossing. Fissure sealants are a preventative strategy we regularly perform on children and young adults to help prevent decay.
Fissure sealants are a white composite resin preventive protective coating. It is a non-invasive treatment that seals the deep grooves (fissures) and pits in molar. We recommend children that present with deep groves in their molars should consider sealants to prevent future issues. Deep fissures cannot be cleaned with toothbrush bristles which leaves your child at higher risk of developing decay.
For eligible patients we bulk bill children’s dentistry under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS). If you are unsure if you child is eligible, you can contact Medicare direct or call us for assistance. With your Medicare card details we can check online for you prior to attending.
