Children's Dentistry

It’s never too early to start a good oral hygiene habit, from the appearance of your child’s first tooth, regular visits to the dentist will prevent problems that may affect your child into adulthood. We believe in early age children's dentistry to educate and familiarise your little ones in forming a good oral health routine and avoid any future dental phobias that may arise.

As maintaining good oral hygiene is not on the top of a child’s priority list, we focus on prevention and educating our young ones on the importance of in-home oral care, such as regular brushing and flossing. Fissure sealants are one of our preventative strategies we regularly perform on children/young adults to help prevent decay.

What are fissure sealants?

Fissure sealants are a white composite resin preventive protective coating. It is a non-invasive treatment that seals the deep grooves (fissures) and pits in molar. We recommend children that present with deep groves in their molars should consider sealants to prevent future issues. Deep fissures cannot be cleaned with toothbrush bristles which leaves your child at higher risk of developing decay.

Benefits:

  • Provides a barrier against bacteria from food and plaque getting trapped in teeth.
  • Smooth surface that’s easier to clean and maintain.
  • Significantly reduces the risk of needing fillings due to decay.

For eligible patients we bulk bill children’s dentistry under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS). If you are unsure if you child is eligible, you can contact Medicare direct or call us for assistance. With your Medicare card details we can check online for you prior to attending.
