Teeth Whitening in Noosa – Putting Your Best Smile Forward
If you’re looking for a perfect white smile, Townsend Family Dental, located on the Sunshine Coast can help with effective and safe teeth whitening in Noosa, QLD. Our high-quality whitening treatments offer a quick and effective way to brighten your smile and give your confidence a boost.
Why whiten teeth?
Unfortunately, not everyone in Noosaville is lucky enough to have a gleaming white smile. Lifestyle habits such as that early morning cup of coffee or a glass of wine with dinner can lead to discoloured teeth. Other contributing factors include smoking and certain medications.
Teeth are also known to darken with age as the tooth enamel thins and reveals the dark dentin beneath. It’s little wonder that teeth whitening at our Noosaville clinic is one of our most popular cosmetic dentistry treatments.

In-chair teeth whitening with Philips Zoom – What to expect
First, our Noosa dentist begins with a complimentary Airflow prophy treatment to remove any surface and/or plaque to optimise results, followed by a 45 minute whitening treatment.
The whitening treatment starts with isolating the gums and lips with a protective sheet to expose only the teeth. The Zoom gel is then carefully applied to each tooth by the dentist and activated with a high-intensity light that remains in place for the entire treatment.
During this time, patients can lay back and relax while watching the overhead TV.
Once 15 minutes have elapsed, the gel is rinsed off and the whiteness of your teeth checked. The procedure is repeated twice more, making a total treatment of 45 minutes.
The final stage is to apply a desensitising gel before letting patients take a look at their beautiful white smiles.
In-chair teeth whitening in Noosaville is carefully controlled and takes the stress out of doing it yourself. With each Zoom teeth whitening treatment, patients also receive a bonus of custom whitening trays and a supply of whitening gel to help keep their smile whiter for longer.
We also take before and after photos, as well as give our patients take-home trays with one gel syringe to top up after the treatment.
Customised teeth-whitening kits – a cheaper (but effective) alternative
If you prefer a more affordable option to in-chair teeth whitening at our Noosa clinic, our custom take-home whitening trays could suit you.
Firstly, the dentist takes an impression of your teeth and gums. The dental technician will then use your moulds to create custom trays. Once the trays are ready, you can start with the treatment.
Simply fill the trays with the prescribed amount of Opalescence gel and wear them as prescribed by your dental practitioner. Then, in the morning, remove the trays, rinse, and leave them to air dry, ready for the next night.
Noosa patients should follow this procedure for 10 to 14 days, depending on how quickly their teeth whiten. While this teeth whitening procedure takes longer, results are equally as impressive.
Our strongest whitening option is only required to be worn for 45 minutes at a time, up to twice a day. We recommend at least 9 applications for optimal results but we can do more or less depending on patient preference and how stained/dark the teeth are.
For patients with extra sensitive teeth, we offer a lower strength whitening option. The results are the same, but trays are to be worn for 4-6 hours and are less likely to cause sensitivity. This option is more suitable for younger patients.
We also provide our take-home kits with enough product for our patients to be able to carry out top-up whitening every 6 months for up to 3 years. After that, more product can be purchased through the practice at manufacturer cost.
All whitening both at-home and Zoom get a take-home pack with instructions, whitening gel, custom trays and desensitising toothpaste.
Teeth whitening in Noosa? – Am I a suitable candidate?
Before going ahead with teeth whitening, patients will be asked to attend a short consultation at our Noosa clinic to determine whether it is a suitable treatment for them. Our dentist will carry out an oral examination, checking for signs of gum disease, cavities, or other dental problems that must be treated before teeth whitening can commence.
We may suggest an alternative treatment such as dental veneers for those with darkened teeth that cannot be whitened.
Patients should also be aware that only natural tooth enamel responds to teeth whitening. So if you have dental restorations such as bridges, crowns, or veneers, you should seek guidance from our dentist.
Our Noosa team is always happy to discuss other dental treatments to meet your smile goals.
How long does teeth whitening last?
Ultimately, how long teeth stay white depends on how you care for them following treatment.
By avoiding foods and beverages that stain teeth and adopting a good oral routine, teeth can remain white for many months to come. Be sure to brush your teeth twice a day, floss once, and attend regular check-ups and cleans with your dentist in Noosaville, QLD.
It helps to brush your teeth after every meal, but if this isn’t possible, drinking a glass of water will help remove harmful acids and plaque that could damage tooth enamel.
Will my teeth be sensitive?
It is important for our patients to know if sensitivity does occur, it is only short term. A good desensitising toothpaste during and after treatment can reduce the severity of sensitivity.
